Dr. Andrea Albertin is the UF/IFAS Extension Regional Water Resources Specialist for the Northwest District, and is based out of the North Florida Research and Education Center in Quincy. She has been in this position for almost a year and a half, and her work focuses on the promotion and adoption of Best Management Practices (BMPs) in agriculture to reduce nutrient leaching to groundwater, and developing extension programs for private well and septic system users.
Previously, she worked in Costa Rica and the US on agriculture BMPs and in community development. She has also thoroughly enjoyed teaching undergraduates from various universities in field courses in Costa Rica and in community college in Virginia.
She received her PhD at UF in the Soil and Water Science Department, working on the nutrient dynamics in Florida Springs and relationships to algal blooms.
